Special Town Meeting, Referendum Style

Article 2. To see if the voters of the Town of Waldoboro will vote to authorize a majority of the municipal officers of the Town, in order to provide funds which are hereby appropriated for that purpose, to borrow on behalf of the Town an amount not to exceed the principal sum of $1,147,771.63 and to issue and sell for that purpose general obligation bonds or notes of the Town of Waldoboro, the proceeds to be used for the purpose of refinancing, refunding and repaying a general obligation bond issued by the Town to the United States of America on November 12, 2003 (principal amount of $1,341,900) for the purpose of financing the costs of acquiring assets of the Waldoboro Water Company and financing improvements and upgrades to the water system in the Town, including, but not limited to developing a new water source, constructing new pumping stations, water mains and storage facilities and to comply with the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act (the “Project”); such bonds or notes to be issued on such further terms and conditions as may be determined by a majority at least of the municipal officers of the Town; and to further authorize the municipal officers to accept federal or state grants and to enter into such contracts and take all actions and do all things as may be necessary or convenient to accomplish the Project and issue the bonds or notes on behalf of the Town.
