AREA YOUTH TO COMPETE IN SCOTT'S® MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL® PITCH,HIT & RUN™ COMPETITION

pitchHitRunWaldoboro, Maine - The Waldoboro Recreation Department is hosting Pitch Hit & Run™, the official skills competition of Major League Baseball® presented by Scotts®. Boys and Girls in the Midcoast region are eligible to participate and compete separately in four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14. (Age is determined as of July 17, 2016)

This year's event will be held on Sunday May 15, 2016 at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex. Registration begins at 1:00pm at Charles "Chuck" Begley Memorial Field. Competition begins shortly thereafter (rain or shine).

Pitch, Hit & Run™ is a grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. The competition includes pitching at a target, hitting balls from a fixed tee for distance and accuracy, and running for timed score.

Participants have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including the Team Championships at Fenway Park and the National Finals at the 2016 MLB™ All-Star Game® in San Diego. The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champion along with the All-Around Champion in each age group and division will are eligible to compete in the sectional competition on May 22nd in Bangor.

Those not registered in the Waldoboro/Friendship Division of MVLL must present proof of birthdate. For more information or scheduling issues, please contact Kyle at the Waldoboro Recreation Department at 832-5369.
