AREA YOUTH TO COMPETE IN AQUAFINA® MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL® PITCH,HIT & RUN™ COMPETITION

The Waldoboro Recreation Department will host a free Aquafina® Major League Baseball® Pitch Hit & Run Competition for area youth. The event will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012. (Rain date: Sunday May 13th) at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex. Boys and girls in the Midcoast region whose birthdate falls between 7/18/97 and 7/17/05 (inclusive) are eligible to participate. Registration begins at 1:00pm near Charles "Chuck" Begley Memorial Field.

Pitch, Hit & Run™ is the Official Skills Competition of Major League Baseball®. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. The competition includes pitching at a target, hitting balls from a fixed tee for distance and accuracy, and running for timed score.

Boys and Girls compete separately in four age divisions: (7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14) and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including the Team Championships at Fenway Park and the National Finals at the 2012 MLB™ All-Star Game®. The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champion along with the All Around Champion in each age group and division will advance to the sectional competition on May 20th in Old Orchard Beach.

Those not registered in the Waldoboro Little League program must present proof of birthdate. For more information, please contact Kyle at the Waldoboro Recreation Department (832-5369).
