The Waldoboro Recreation Department is in need of volunteer coaches for the Youth Cheering Program. The program is divided into two divisions: Sideline (K-6th grade) Competition (4th-6th grade only).
Practices are typically held several times a week and are scheduled to begin around Thanksgiving. The Sideline program learns basic cheering fundamentals and performs at pee-wee basketball games. Participants in the Competition program learn choreographed dance routines, stunts, cheers and perform at Maine Youth Cheering events. Sideline continues through the end of January and Competition squad runs through March.

The Waldoboro Recreation Department has begun accepting registrations for the 2015-2016 Waldoboro Youth Sideline Cheering Program (K-6th grade). Registration fees are $25.00 for Waldoboro Residents and $35.00 for non-residents. Participants should register at the Waldoboro Recreation Department. A coaches meet and greet and registration session will take place on Saturday, Nov 21 from 9-10:30am in the Miller School Gym.
The first practice for Sideline Cheering is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 4:30pm in the Miller School Gym. The program will run on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings. Additional practices times, locations and other details will be available at the first practice. All cheerleaders MUST be signed up by December 2nd.
Participants in the Sideline program learn basic cheering fundamentals and perform at pee-wee basketball games. For safety, jewelry is prohibited at practices or events, this includes new piercings.

On Saturday, May 16th, 2015, 34 children gathered on Charles "Chuck" Begley Field at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex to participate in the Local Level of Major League Baseball's Pitch-Hit-Run Competition presented by Scott's. The Pitch, Hit & Run Competition is a free baseball and softball skills challenge that allows youngsters to showcase their talents in pitching, hitting and running with scores determined by individual performances in each skills event.

On Sunday, May 24th. the local champions will have the opportunity to participate in the Sectional Competition at Hadlock Field in Portland. Overall Champions from the Sectional Competition will have their scores compared against other sectional participants throughout New England for a chance to participate in the MLB Team Competition at Fenway Park.
Waldoboro Recreation Director Kyle Santheson said: "This years event was one of our largest ever! Without the support of dedicated volunteers including Carrie White, Maddy White, Matt Lash, Chris Jameson, Josie Jameson, Cindy Santheson, Matt Moody and Richard Vannah, these youngsters might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate.

AREA YOUTH TO COMPETE IN SCOTT'S® MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL® PITCH,HIT & RUN™ COMPETITION
Waldoboro, Maine - The Waldoboro Recreation Department is hosting Pitch Hit & Run™, the official skills competition of Major League Baseball® presented by Scotts®. Boys and Girls in the Midcoast region are eligible to participate and compete separately in four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14. (Age is determined as of July 17, 2016)
This year's event will be held on Sunday May 15, 2016 at the Waldoboro Recreation Complex. Registration begins at 1:00pm at Charles "Chuck" Begley Memorial Field. Competition begins shortly thereafter (rain or shine).
Pitch, Hit & Run™ is a grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. The competition includes pitching at a target, hitting balls from a fixed tee for distance and accuracy, and running for timed score.
Participants have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including the Team Championships at Fenway Park and the National Finals at the 2016 MLB™ All-Star Game® in San Diego. The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champion along with the All-Around Champion in each age group and division will are eligible to compete in the sectional competition on May 22nd in Bangor.

The Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the Waldoboro Youth Summer Recreation Program. The program provides five weeks of structured activities and field trips for Waldoboro children entering first through seventh grade.
The program is scheduled to begin Tuesday, July 5th and run 9am to 1pm, Monday through Friday until August 5th, 2016, at the Miller Elementary School gymnasium. Registrations for non-resident children will be accepted on a space available basis. Program attendance is flexible, so families can go on vacations and still attend the remaining events when they return.
Parents, legal guardians or designated representatives must sign children in and out each day. There are a maximum of 50 spots available each week. There are many activities and field trips planned for this year. Weekly swimming and hiking trips are planned in addition to other activities around the Midcoast community.
Program cost is $30/week per child. (Non-residents $45). A limited number of scholarships are available for Waldoboro citizens only. Contact the Recreation Department at 832-5369 for more information.
WALDOBORO YOUTH SOCCER REGISTRATION
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: September 3rd, 2016
Registrations for the 2016 Waldoboro Youth Soccer program are being accepted at the Waldoboro Recreation Department through Friday, September 2nd. A final registration session will be held at the Waldoboro Town Office (1600 Atlantic Highway) on Saturday, September 3rd, 2015 from 9am-11am. Due to scheduling, uniform orders and roster management, registrations will not be accepted after this date.
The program is open to boys and girls entering Kindergarten through 6th grade in Waldoboro and surrounding communities. There are three divisions of play: K-2nd grade meet from 9-1030am at MVHS on Saturday mornings beginning September 10th. 3rd/4th grade and 5/6th grade practices begin week of September 5th. Cost of the program is $25.00 per player for Waldoboro Residents and $35.00 for all others.
Waldoboro K-2 Basketball Registration Opens, Coaches Needed.
The Waldoboro Recreation Department is accepting registrations for the K-2 youth basketball program. Volunteer coaches are needed. The program is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade and focuses on the basic skills of basketball including ball control, passing, shooting and defense. Scrimmages will be worked in as the season progresses. Players will meet in the Miller School Gym on Saturday's beginning February 4th. (Kindergarten: 9-9:50am and Grade 1/2 from 10:00-11:15am).
The program ends on March 25th. Schedules will be provided on the first day. Cost of the program is $25 for Waldoboro residents and $35 for non-residents. Registration forms are available at the Waldoboro Town Office or by clicking the link above.

Medomak Valley Pee Wee Wrestling (PreK-4th)
Medomak Valley Medomak Valley Pee Wee Wrestling is accepting registrations for the Pre-K through 4th grade Wrestling Program. The program is open to boys and girls in the RSU 40 area. Wrestlers have begun meeting on Monday's & Thursday's from 4:30pm to 6pm in the cafeteria at Medomak Valley High School. The focus of the program is to teach the basic skills of wrestling. Several meets are being scheduled. A $10.00 donation is requested.

Waldoboro Recreation to Host Cheerleading Tumbling classes
The Waldoboro Recreation Department is hosting a 10-week tumbling class specifically designed for those interested in cheerleading on Saturday afternoons beginning September 3, 2016 at Medomak Middle School in Waldoboro. (No classes Oct 8th) Cheer Tumbling is open to beginning, intermediate and advanced tumblers in grades K-12. There is no residency requirement or restriction. Grades K-4 (12:00-1:00pm), Grades 5-8 (1:00pm-2:00pm) Grades 9-12 (2:00pm-3:00pm).
Instruction (depending on skill level) will include standing back handsprings, back tucks, cartwheels, round offs and other cheer tumbling moves. Class sizes are limited to 15 students each. Cost is $110 per student. Matt Hanley, a Tri-State Champion gymnast from Element All Stars will be instructing.
