Mahjongg

The Ancient Chinese Game

Mahjong is a game that originated in China, and commonly played by four players. The four-player table version should not be confused with the popular Western single player (tile matching) computer game (Mahjong solitaire). Similar to rummy, mahjong is a game of skill, strategy and chance. The game is played with a set of tiles based on Chinese characters and symbols. Each player begins by receiving a certain number of tiles and then draws and discards tiles until they complete a legal hand. The Local Majongg group meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm. For more information, call Jane Lichtman at 832-7834.
