17mitchellAwardOn Monday, December 11th, Glen Melvin and the Medomak River Taskforce were awarded the Senator George J. Mitchell award for "outstanding contribution by an external partner to sustainability research".

This award was given to acknowledge the efforts specifically of Glen for his help with the drifter project which is led by Gabby Hillyer.

These “bucket drifters” are packed with scientific instruments that take the measure of the tides—research aimed at better understanding the dynamics of the estuary’s ability to flush out harmful bacteria that, in the wake of rainstorms of more than an inch, close clam flats for a mandatory nine-day period.
