...and it reduces the costs of running your Transfer Station.

The Waldoboro Transfer Station has begun to strictly enforce the recycling requirements in the “Waldoboro Solid Waste Disposal and Required Recycling Ordinance”. Waldoboro’s voters approved this ordinance on June 12, 2012 and it became effective on August 17, 2012.

From now on ONLY garbage and trash may be thrown into the hopper. All recyclables must be deposited in the appropriate recycling containers as directed by the Transfer Station staff. Anyone who doesn’t recycle all their recyclables will be required to pay a dumping fee of $13.50 per uncompacted cubic yard. This equates to $0.60 per 30-gallon bag or $1.20 per contractor bag.

The Ordinance also calls for trash haulers to deposit all the recyclables they collect from their customers in Waldoboro, Cushing or Friendship, or to pay a dumping fee of $13.50 per estimated uncompacted cubic yard ($35.00 per estimated compacted cubic yard). So if you have a trash hauler pick up your trash, please remember to do your part by separating your garbage and trash from your recyclables. Information

about how to do this is available by clicking here and at the Waldoboro Town Office.

Recycling means the Town pays a lot less to get rid of its trash at the PERC incinerator in Orrington as Lincoln County takes away the recyclables for free.
